Why does my phone keep powering off?

i take my phone off the charger and unlock it and it powers off

iPhone 8, iOS 16

Time for a new battery. Whenever if falls below 80% you will need to replace the battery. Make sure you do it at Apple or Authorized Apple Service center.

Most likely the battery is failing. What is the health of the battery at Settings > Battery > Battery Heath & Charging > Maximum Capacity?

Too little charge and overheating are possibilities.
