A couple more points ..... I am with ATT and the two numbers (Dual Sim) on my phone were on different accounts. One consumer and one Business. the dual sim worked fine on the phone being on different accounts but would not work on the watch. These accounts were not "cross banded" and therefore you could not add both plans to the watch according to L3 at ATT. I ported over my business number to my personal account and all things are good now.
True that you only have dual sim on your phone and not your watch and the watch only has one IMEI number unlike your phone that has an IMEI and IMEI-2. Being that your watch just has one IMEI regardless of how many plans you add to your watch (FROM THE SAME ACCOUNT) you have to choose which one is active and switch between them for that particular number to ring when you are away from your phone. You can certainly forward them all to the one that is active and it will ring on your watch.
NOW.... most CSR's at ATT have no idea that this is even a possibility and they will tell you it will not work and that you cannot have more than one plan on your watch because you only have ONE IMEI. This is not true so as you can assign multiple plans to a single IMEI on your watch. If you are really wanting your watch to work this way you will have to work on them if you are doing this via the phone.
The easiest way is simply to add a new plan(s) from the watch app on your phone. it works fine as long as all lines are on the same account and it will allow you to buy a new line (up to 5) thru the device. you have to tell every plan the one and only IMEI number from your watch. Sometimes it takes a bit to provision the lines so give it some time. you will have to back out of the watch app on your phone and come back in for the new lines to show up .... again just be patient. ALSO if you have UNUSED lines on your watch app on your phone you need to delete them before adding a new line. if you bomb out mid install it will put the new line in the unused section and you have to delete that before trying again.
When your Apple Watch is connected to your iPhone, you can get calls and messages from all plans. Your watch shows which cellular plan you received a notification from by showing a badge with the first letter of the line. If you respond to a call or message, your watch automatically responds from the line that you received the call or message on.
When your Apple Watch is away from your iPhone and connected to cellular, you can get calls and messages from your active plan. If your iPhone is turned on, even if it isn't nearby, you can get messages and notifications about calls from your other plans . If you respond to a call, your watch automatically calls back from your active plan. If you respond to an SMS message, your watch automatically texts back from the plan that you received the message on. You can respond to iMessages as long as there's an active data connection from any plan. If you want to change your active plan, you can manually switch between plans from Settings on your Apple Watch.
Hope this helps as. this functionality is important for me so that i can switch between my business and personal lines and the right one rings to my watch if i am away from my phone.
