Protected songs pre-2012

I have purchased many MP3's via iTunes but moved on to Google Play. Now Google Play is dead, and it was difficult to extract the Google Take Out files, I went back to iTunes which worked. But the protected (old) files from iTunes will not convert these protected songs to MP3. Deleting and reinstalling only brings up the same issues.

Thanks

TJ,

In addition to javaliga's information, note that those old iTunes DRM-protected files can be burned to audio CD if your computer is authorized to the account from which they were originally purchased, if you have a CD drive available. The audio CD can then be ripped to MP3 files.

By the way, the songs sold by Google Play Music Store when it was active were MP3 files (at 320 kbps) and would not need any conversion, assuming you still have copies.
