Apple Mail Filtered Messages folder

Starting in December, a new folder showed up in the Mail app called Filtered Messages. I did not create it. The messages in this folder are all from December 2023- Jan 2024 and is a mixture of junk and messages from people I correspond with routinely. There is no obvious pattern to what is there vs. the In Box or Junk folder. I have several "Rules" set up, but those sort to my In Box or Trash and not Filtered Messages. Anyone have an idea what is going on? This is an older Macbook Pro running Mojave.

Hi David,

Turn filters off

  • In the Mail app  on your Mac, click the Filter button  at the top of the message list, or choose View > Filter > Disable Message Filter. You can also click and hold the Filter button, then choose Disable Message Filter from the menu that appears.
  • The Filter button changes color  to indicate that no filters are applied.
