Hacker evite email disappeared from mailbox though I didn't trash it. Where did it go?
My friend was hacked. As a result, I received a bogus "evite." I clicked to open the email but then was told I had to download some things to see it. I sensed it was a scam. I closed the email but did not trash it and wrote an email to the friend asking if it was a scam. She did not respond, but when I saw her today she said she was hacked. I thus went back into my mailbox, intending to delete the bogus "evite" and -- lo and behold -- the bogus "evite" has disappeared. I have searched all my files/folders, and it is just gone. Is it possible that the scammer has a way of making their mail disappear? How do I determine if they've left 'tentacles' in my MacBook? Thanks.
