Map Directions Barely Audible in Car

When I use Apple Maps for directions, the spoken directions are very quiet, even after setting Voice Volume to Louder Volume. It also sounds like the voice is coming from a different speaker that the radio or the music app use. The music app is fine.

Any suggestions?

Car Play not giving navigation voice directions on Apple Maps I own a Mazda CX9 and my husband has an iPhone XR and I have a 13. His phone had no audio on GPS for Apple Car Play but mine has no problem. I think it might be an apple bug with the XR’s. I took the advice of some of the comments and switched over to Waze for him. Sure enough, audio worked on Waze and I am sure Google. So it does not work with Apple Maps. I guess we will have to wait for a fix.

Getting dings instead of voice directions in Maps The Maps app in Car play randomly starts giving ding sounds instead of voice directions. THIS IS DANGEROUS!!!! I need to take my eyes off the road to look at this screen when it beeps. I read the system converts to dings if the software needs an update. My phone software is up to date. The volume is up on the car and on my phone and Apple Watch. Why is Maps still not giving voice directions?

Apple Maps. Audio button is missing my version of Apple maps does not have option to change or mute audio. It’s not on screen and when I swipe up after starting directions, the app just closes. There are no icons. I’ve also indicated in Settings I have directions to car radio off ( but directions still spoken)

It just occurred to me that this is a recent problem. Maybe it's iOS 17?
