Add a custom Ringtone to your phone

I have an iPhone 13. The Apple store reset it to factory settings and I lost my custom Ringtone (fortunately I had it saved on my Mac). Maybe other answers are too old, because I could not follow the answers I found on here. For example, in iTunes, I could find no Tone tab. So, how do you put a custom Ringtone on your phone? I emailed the tone to myself and downloaded it to Files on my phone (NOT iCloud drive, which is the default location for the download -that won't work). Once downloaded, verify it's in your files and then go to Sounds and Haptics in your settings. Select Ringtone and find your custom Ringtone.

To add a custom to your iPhone 13, you can do the following: First, download and open the GarageBand app from the App Store. Create a new project and select any instrument, then switch to Tracks mode. Select the Loop icon, go to the Files tab and select the saved ringtone file. Next, drag and drop the file into the timeline, then export the ringtone by clicking the down arrow in the upper left corner, selecting My Songs, holding down the newly created project, selecting Share, then selecting Ringtone and Export. When asked, select Use sound as... and set it as ringtone. If you want to use a computer, make sure the ringtone file is in M4R format, connect iPhone to Mac via USB cable, open Finder (or iTunes), drag the M4R file to the Tones section under your device, then sync iPhone transformation. Finally, on iPhone, go to Settings > Sounds & Haptics > Ringtone and choose your custom ringtone.

Email the custom ringtone to your phone. Download it to Files on your phone (NOT iCloud drive, which is the default location for the download -that won't work). Here is a foolproof way via your Mac:

Download Ringer App from app store. Drop in mp3 file, then select the portion of the song you want for the 00:38 clips.

Once you have your clip, click create. The clip will be automatically saved to the Ringer folder on your Mac.

Connect your phone to your Mac, open Music, and you should see your phone on the left side. Click on it and drop in the clip you just created. It will look like nothing happened, but the file you created will sync to your phone.

Back on your iPhone, go to settings, sounds and haptic, and ringtone. You should see your clip there.
