How to fully charge Mac battery?

Using MacBook Pro mid-2015 running Monterey. I can't find a way to override optimized charging. There is no option to either fully charge the battery or turn off optimized charging, per directions I've found from Apple. My laptop is plugged in nearly all the time, so battery stays around 50%.

Any idea what to do when my laptop won't be connected to power for a while?

As I said earlier, I haven't any experience with this but I did a little digging. Regarding the missing options:

At page bottom of the Apple link I posted earlier--About Optimized Battery Charging - Apple Support--there's a link to--About battery health management in Mac laptops - Apple Support.

There's this excerpt:

"...Battery health management is on by default when you buy a new Mac laptop with macOS 10.15.5 or later, or after you upgrade to macOS 10.15.5 or later on a Mac laptop with Thunderbolt 3 ports.

If you want to turn off battery health management on a Mac laptop with an Intel processor, follow these steps:..."

You can see the steps and related images there. For me, the first sentence isn't completely clear, although it sounds that the Thunderbolt 3 limitation is referencing--"Battery health management is on by default"--it might mean the feature isn't available for Thunderbolt 2 Macs.

Assumption--if that feature isn't available for the 2015, the companion optimize feature/settings isn't either.

Yeah, I don't keep up with hardware features and didn't know there was a Thunderbolt 2 or 3. My Mac also does not offer the feature to "Deselect Manage battery longevity," since I don't have Thunderbolt 3.

I reset the SMC and - as expected - no changes.

Looks like the answer is my hardware supports optimized charging (which is great) but nothing else to support it from the user side. And Apple doesn't mention that these options may be completely missing for those of us who appreciate the incredible longevity of Apple products.

Since there's no way to manually recharge the battery or turn off optimized charging, the solution is to unplug and use the battery down (probably want to go below 20%), then recharge to get 100% (probably need 4-8 hours).

Or upgrade to newer hardware, of course ;)

To be upfront with you, I haven't any experience with this specifically. What I 'd try---

Since you can see but can't select the options, boot into Safe Mode, try/test, then boot into Normal Mode and try again if unsuccessful in Safe Mode.

Reset the SMC. I looked around a bit and some users, seemingly experienced, advise to reset the SMC 3 times in succession. That offered advice wasn't recommended to a user with your exact issue. Whether it'll be necessary for your situation, I don't know, but it might be useful information.

To clarify, the options are not visible at all. It is an Intel, so I'll try resetting the SMC.

As it happens, I used the battery last night and it's now at 100% after an overnight charge. Maybe the answer is to drain the battery, then recharge. That may not be a true solution though.

Other possibility is my old hardware doesn't handle this feature properly.
