MAC Studio 2022 M1 Max and Samsung S8 27" Viewfinity 4K issues

Multiple issues I discover when I either awaken it from sleep or out of screensaver.

I have dual monitors of the same make/model side by side.

If I manually set it to sleep only one monitor goes dark, the other stays on.
When I awaken it from sleep or from screensaver the screens are arranged backwards OR the Samsung splash screens are visible and will not go away OR one of the screens won't come back at all as though it lost power but it hasn't.

It's a coin toss on what I will discover when I awaken it. No matter what condition they are in when I awaken the Studio, the only way to correct the issues is unplug the power from the monitors to get rid of the Samsung splash screens as well as the monitors to work again and manually arrange them back in order. I have taken my studio to Apple and they said its ok. I have called Samsung and they said it ok.

Sure could use some insight into what's going on.

Computer Sleep does not function properly in the latest macOS versions.

Folks are suffering everything from crashing to loosing dual display arrangements and windows placement.

The follow are suggestions and work-arounds that work for my dual display setup.

1) Turn on "Prevent automatic sleeping when display is off" and only allow the displays to turn off.

2) Turn off all of the Spaces options in Mission Control.

3) Then test manual sleep from the dropdown over night.

If manual sleep messes up the arrangement and window placement, then just shutdown at night.

Thanks to everyone who've replied.

I've applied the config settings stated by Den.Thed but unfortunately after it did not make any difference as far as preventing the issues I've stated.

Something weird happened when I turned off the Studio. The right monitor continued to show the screen saver. I never seen anything like that before and that really threw me.

Even after turning on the Studio the Samsung's came up with those "Thunderbolt4/USB-C" splash screens(meaning the monitor buttons are completely unresponsive) and they would not go away unless I power cycle(unplug/plug) them.

And sometimes this splash screen would come up and not go away unless I unplug/plug...

I am just saddened that spending a large amount of money for this rig that I am plagued with ridiculous issues like this.

you did not explicitly say whether how you are connecting these two displays.

HDMI direct?

ThunderBolt/USB-C to HDMI?

ThunderBolt direct?

ThunderBolt Daisy chained off the other?

What cables, adapters and docks are being used in every case, and how long are the cables?

When I first started experiencing this it was Thunderbolt Daisy chained off the other monitor using Thunderbolt 4/USB-C 6ft cables by CalDiGit. Then changed it to Thunderbolt direct to the monitors and the issues persisted. I changed it back to Daisy chain using the Thunderbolt 4/USB-C 6ft cables that came with the Samsung monitors then, just last week, back to direct connect still using the cables that came with the monitors. I think the combination of some of den.thed's suggestions and connecting the monitors directly helped because I haven't experienced it reversing the monitors anymore nor are they becoming unresponsive anymore. The monitors power off after a while of non-usage and I power them back on once I wake up the Studio. That's ok as this preserves the monitors anyway. The screens are in order and the resolution is maintained.

USB-C cables for these connections are specified up to ONE meter maximum.

Cables for connection of high resolution displays via ThunderBolt are specified to be at most 0.8 meters for Apple cables, 0.5 meters for Brand-X cables.

HDMI cables are not specified as being length limited, but using adapters with HDMI can be very trouble-prone. HDMI does NOT adapt happily at high resolutions.

HDMI cables you want for HDMI-only Displays (higher resolutions than 720p TV sets) are marked as Certified with an anti-counterfeiting tag and are labeled:

"Premium High Speed HDMI cable" or that + "with Ethernet" --OR--

"Ultra High Speed HDMI cable" or that + "48G"

Cables with No Certification tags are good for your standard 720p TV set, and not much more.
