MacOS Calendar delete unwanted timezones

If you have time zone support turned on in advanced settings of Calendar (iCal) then you may want to remove timezones that are no longer useful to you.

It has been hard to do this in MacOS for while and I took a long time to find a Youtube video, which provides the best result (credit aMacxd):

  1. Open Terminal
  2. Enter at the prompt: defaults delete com.apple.iCal 'RecentlyUsedTimeZones'

This will delete all of the timezones (so you can re-add them) for all except the current default selection i.e. if you are in the UK but your default timezone selected in Calendar is CET then you have to select UK in Calendar before the above command deletes CET.
