Siri says, “you’ll need to unlock your iPhone first”

When I say, “hey siri open Netflix on Apple TV.” Or “hey siri, go to messages.” It says “you’ll need to unlock your iPhone first.” I appreciate the security but sometimes I want to be able to do things hands free. I have scoured the internet for a solution and I ended up doing this…

settings> accessibility> voice control (turn on)

scroll down to overlay and choose none. (If you do not do this your phone will show little numbers beside everything)

then while in voice control scroll to commands.

Custom> create new command

under phrase I typed in, “okay go ahead.”

this next part was tricky but I finally figured it out

youll see “action” right underneath the phrase you just typed it

then select run custom gesture

here you will type/swipe/touch the screen exactly how you would to open your iPhone after Siri says you’ll need to unlock your iPhone first. ( I used a tiny point sharpie to mark where my numbers are on my screen when I unlock my phone)

*when your voice command is on it will pick up anyone’s voice and type whatever it picks up when you are searching or typing*

ALSO if you have an iPhone that uses Face ID you will not be able to use this command when your phone without asking Siri to open something up first. This command works with how the screen looks after Siri says you’ll need to unlock your iPhone first. You will need to make a new command that says something different and when you make the gesture you need to swipe up, wait 4 seconds and then type in your password. Then when your phone is locked you can use this command to unlock it without saying hey Siri first.

surely there is a better and easier solution than this but I can’t find anything! Also I am not a tech savvy person at all so I’m sorry if I did not explain this very well. I made a screen recording then realized I can’t upload it or just do not know how..but if you look up “unlock iPhone using voice command” on YouTube there are videos explaining what I did.
