I have recently updated the SSL cert on my mailserver and now my phone generates this error. There used to be an option to trust the site under the 'details' tab on teh error message, but it seems to have gone. My desktop machine allows this type of addition and mail is now working fine there. How can I tell my phone that this certificate is trustworthy?

If you delete and re-create an account, the phone will object to the use of SSL because it can't verify the server. Ifyou get details at this point you also get the 'Trust' option on the top right. That works for all other accounts on that server.
What happens when you click the "Details" on the error popup message (See the Pic below)
Best would be to Delete and Add the email account that is creating the issue.
You may also try changing SSL settings
Settings > Password & Accounts > [Select the Mail account} > [Tape on Account with the email ID} > Advanced > SSL Settings > [Disable]
Click <Account (in Blue)
Click on DONE (in Blue) when exiting in the previous screen
Pressing 'Details' gives me the information on the certificate that I would expect to see. IoS doesn't trust it becuase it is self-certified.
I'd rather not turn SSL off, for reasons of security.
So Apple really need me to delete and re-create my mail accounts every year when I update the cert? That's not user-friendly.
