HP PRINTER!! Macbook will not allow an HPprinter firmware downgrade. This is a huge problem as now it will no longer accept generic ink.

When I try to do the update it says it cannot be done. Any ideas appreciated!!

This is an HP problem. Contact HP for support. Apple has nothing to do with HP.

HP won't be interested... because they are in the business of selling ink. Not printers, not computers. Ink. This is not a secret; it was explicitly mentioned in a 10k filing a number of years ago.

Any ideas appreciated!!

Idea #1: Don't make HP your problem. The day I went all Office Space on my last HP printer was the most pleasant experience I ever had with it.

Idea #2: Dump HP. Buy a printer from a manufacturer whose primary business objective is not angering their own customers.
