Your link in the post was removed because it just provided speculation. Apple has not provided a date yet and your link just said what some people thought would be included in the next release. Speculation is not allowed in these forums. Just the facts!

Not true, Apple users can download Google Messenger which uses RCS and we all can be free to talk to each other like the true God intended lol.

The discussion pertains to iOS allowing RCS messaging in the Messages app provided on the device. This is currently not allowed. As with any third party messaging app, they can offer any feature they want as long as both users are using the same app. This can include encryption, read receipts, unsend messages or others. Currently all users can talk to each other no matter what app they are using, but specifying a specific app that both parties must use may not be what God intended.

The relevant portions are:

  • What devices work with RCS chats?

Rich Communication Services (RCS) are available on Android devices.

  • Can I use RCS chats with Apple’s iMessage?

While you get many of the same benefits as iMessage, they are different messaging services. Conversations between someone with Google’s RCS chats and someone with Apple iMessage are sent through SMS/MMS.

If you go to settings and swipe down in the middle of the screen it will pop up the search bar. From here type in, “ messages”. Click the result labeled messages and scroll down to toggle, “ send as SMS”. If this is on it should only send as an SMS.

I think you're talking about Settings>Messages>Send as SMS. If so, that's not what that setting does. That setting only affects iMessages. See the note underneath of the setting: Send as SMS when iMessage is unavailable." It will not cause the phone to only send SMS. The phone will, as long as it's logged into iMessage, continue to attempt to send messages as iMessages to other devices that have iMessage enabled.

so some of the people I know are not getting my txt msgs because of this but is there any way around it on the iphone end ? cause mine is set as SMS

SMS is the standard messaging protocol on all devices. If another user is unable to receive SMS, then they will need to check the settings on their device. Google also had an issue where their phones had a bug that prevented them from receiving SMS messages.
