Based on your tagline, I will be assuming you have a 2014 27" Retina iMac. If so, for reference this iMac has a combo Wi-Fi / Bluetooth card inside its case on the upper right-hand side. It's antennae are also located inside on the right side.

As such, it could explain why your mouse is not having any issues when placed on the right side of the Mac, but does when placed on the left side.

However there may still be other reasons for this disparity, including:

  • Some form of wireless interference that is affecting the left side of the Mac. Per chance do you have other Bluetooth devices operating nearby? Where is your Wi-Fi router or access point located, in relationship to your Mac?
  • The left-most antenna is either disconnected or faulty.
