Mac Mail settings for AOL mail ?

My primary email account is nominally a verizon.net account that I've had for years; it is administered by AOL. It's been fine but today I changed my aging password and while it works on the AOL site and on my iPhone, the Mail app on my iMac (Ventura) is having trouble logging on. The account is offline and I have this message:

<< There may be a problem with the mail server or network. Verify the settings for account “BP-Verizon/AOL” or try again. The server returned the error: Connections to host incoming.verizon.net on the default ports failed.>>

What settings? In Internet Accounts, I can find no place to designate servers or ports. What now?

Try deleting the account and adding it back. That should update your settings. You generally only need your email address and password to do that. It almost always works better than trying to edit things.

Tried it again, and it will send but not receive. Somewhere I'm missing a server setting, but where, and why does this result from a simple password change?
