Re: predictive text popping up even though i have it off
Seems this is the method you have already used to turn off predictive text:
- While using the keyboard, touch and hold
or
. - Tap Keyboard Settings, then turn off Predictive.
Wondering if it is now the auto-correction that still pops up?
Eg: Apple support says:
"When you turn off Predictive, iPhone may still try to suggest corrections for misspelled words.
To accept a correction, enter a space or punctuation, or tap Return.
To reject a correction, tap the “x.”
If you reject the same suggestion a few times, iPhone stops suggesting it.
Note: Turning off the Predictive setting turns off both predictive text and inline text predictions."

Seems:
Auto-Correction uses your keyboard dictionary to spellcheck words as you type
If you find you want to turn Auto-Correction on or off:
- Open the Settings app.
- Tap General > Keyboard.
- Turn Auto-Correction on or off
Above is from: Type with fewer taps - Apple Support
All the best :-)
