predictive text popping up even though i have it off

i have predictive text disabled in keyboard settings, but sometimes when i’m typing it pops up anyways and doesn’t go away unless i close out the keyboard. it used to be something that happened every so often but now it happens frequently. i turn predictive text off because it’s distracting to my eyes and i don’t like it. how do i stop this from happening?

iPhone 14 Pro Max, iOS 17

Re: predictive text popping up even though i have it off

Seems this is the method you have already used to turn off predictive text:

  1. While using the keyboard, touch and hold or .
  2. Tap Keyboard Settings, then turn off Predictive.

Wondering if it is now the auto-correction that still pops up?

Eg: Apple support says:

"When you turn off Predictive, iPhone may still try to suggest corrections for misspelled words.

To accept a correction, enter a space or punctuation, or tap Return.

To reject a correction, tap the “x.”

If you reject the same suggestion a few times, iPhone stops suggesting it.

Note: Turning off the Predictive setting turns off both predictive text and inline text predictions."

Above is from: Use predictive text on iPhone - Apple Support

Seems:

Auto-Correction uses your keyboard dictionary to spellcheck words as you type

If you find you want to turn Auto-Correction on or off:

  1. Open the Settings app.
  2. Tap General > Keyboard.
  3. Turn Auto-Correction on or off

All the best :-)
