Mojave to Sonoma

I plan to upgrade in the near future from Mojave to Sonoma, which is a big jump.

Can someone tell me if:

1. Mac mail in Sonoma offers more helpful capability for Search (e.g. finding the email(s) that contain specified text in the emails body in one or more folders)? This capability is grayed out ("enable message filtering" under VIEW) in Mohave, when one uses the classical view of mailboxes (listed vertically on the left side). That's what I learned from Apple support....

2 Can one print in Finder a list of all of selected folders with or without the files in those folders (like Print Window does) without a 3rd party application?

3 Can one print selected mail folders and a list of email headers in them (not the body of each email)?

4 What major changes can a user adjust to with this upgrade knowing that the most used Apple applications I use are Finder, Mail and Facetime? Were lots of functions in these applications renamed and moved, requiring hunting for them for a while?

Thanks.

I like to, at least, to address your first question ... and the best way to do that is to provide you with this link:

You will see that this takes you to the Mail User Guide that cover macOS from High Sierra to Sonoma. For each operating system you will find the "What's new in Mail on Mac?" with a list of new features. You can then combine these lists starting with Catalina to Sonoma to get an idea of what Apple considers the important changes with each version.

For the second question: What is your actual goal? To get a printout of selected folders from the Finder window? Can you provide an example?

For the third question: Sorry I don't have an answer on how to exactly go about doing this.

For the fourth question: I think the best way to address this is with providing you with two options:

  1. Visit your local Apple Store and ask for a demonstration of macOS Sonoma. Have a list of questions you would like answered and have the Apple Associate show what can be done with Sonoma.
  2. If you don't have a store nearby, I would suggest that you consider running macOS Sonoma to check it out yourself. You actually have, at least, two methods to do so without having to upgrade your existing Mac from Mojave.

A bit more on the second option. The two methods I am referring to are:

  1. Create a bootable "clone" external drive with Sonoma installed on it. You would then boot up your Mac with this drive and can see how well Sonoma will perform the tasks you will like it to.
  2. Use a Virtual Machine (VM) manager, like Parallels. You would then create a VM of Sonoma to run "inside" this VM. Again, when it is running, you can check out Sonoma's features. As an added bonus, you can create VMs of a multiple different operating systems to try out, not just Apple ones. For example, to help me answer user questions here at the ASC, I have VMs of every version of OS X/macOS from Lion to Sonoma, as well as, VMs of Windows 95 thru Windows 11.

Thanks a lot for your great suggestions.

To answer your question about #2, I am looking for ways to print a list of files and/or folders in a selected folder.

There is a hard to see example (not the ones with pictures, but the one in the back of them) in the Apple store for Print Window 5, an app I paid for to compensate for what Finder could/should have, but doesn't.

It seems that others are also looking for this capability/
