No key sound when dialing a phone number

When I dial a phone number the keys are silent. It didn't used to be this way

Key presses are not being recognized in automated calls on iPhone I get an automated call back from Apple, T-Mobile, Kaiser, etc. The call says, "If you're ready, oress 1." I press 1. It is apparently not "heard" by the caller. It continues, "If you're ready, press 1." I press 1. Nothing happens. After a while, not hearing my key presses, it hangs up.
