Western Digital back-up drive won't back up. What is best drive for MacBook Air?

I have a WD Passport for Mac that quit backing up and became read-only out of the blue. After reading posts online, it appears this could be related to updating to Sonoma 14. I erased the drive but cannot get it to back up now. I think it is time for a new drive. What should I get?

MacBook Air, macOS 14.2

In that case, you'll want a 1TB external hard drive. What is the model of your MacBook Air (including the year)? This information is available by clicking on the Apple menu and clicking on About This Mac. This will let us know what kind of connections are on your MacBook Air.

Assuming you have Thunderbolt 3 or Thunderbolt 4 ports (USB C) on your MacBook Air, and you want to be able to back it up quickly, then I'd look at OWC Envoy Pro FX 1TB model. (Link to This Drive).
