QuickTime Player does not list my iPhone as an option. It displays iPhone camera and mic but not iPhone itself

I have a 2011 MacBook M1 pro chip. My iPhone 15 or iPhone 8 once connected do not show up an option to mirror the display. It will play the camera and the audio just fine.

Phone is just not an option. Any help would be greatly appriciated.

Same for me. I have a iPhone 13 mini running iOS 17.14.1. My MBP is running Sonoma 14.3.1. I no longer can see my iPhone as a source using Quicktime v10.5 (1184.2).

I have rebooted both the iPhone and MBP without resolution of the problem. I have reset and added the iPhone as a "trusted device", still no help.

The iPhone 13 microphone is an option for the camera and microphone but not as a source device option.
