Just updated to 18.1.1 and I cannot screen record. I have checked both screen mirroring, which I have never used on this phone, and the AirPlay….dont see anything wrong with what I have set.

Why are you using AirPlay or mirroring? Turn off AirPlay, stop mirroring and make all the tutorials you want. I do, without any issues.
The message is straightforward, and the popup is not related to iOS 18.1.1. It's a standard feature: when AirPlay, Screen Mirroring, or Restrictions are enabled, screen recording is disabled.
It's not always the iOS update's fault! Many things can cause phone problems. If you tell people you think it's an iOS update, it might make it harder to fix or find a solution for the real issue.

I believe this is a fairly recent change because it was being used to screen record copyrighted material. So, Apple has had to apply changes to prevent potential infringement of copyrights. It may only happen in certain regions, I’m not sure and not have a way of checking.

I apologize for making it look like it was the update’s fault. Trying to get information about how an iPhone works is very hit and miss. It had worked before the update. I tried to find the info that you just gave me but couldn’t on the internet sites. I still do not understand. I do not have either screen mirroring nor air play activated on my phone. I had triple checked the items that the notification stated was stopping the screen recording before asking for help.
I have used iPhones for many years and they just get more and more complicated.
As far as backup I wouldn’t even know where to begin with that. Never have backed my phone up before updates. I will take the automatic update off of my phone and just not update it anymore.

I was trying to use it to show (like so many others) steps to take to do something I do with my phone, for a grandson. I don’t believe that is copyright materiel, but who knows now a days what is and isn’t copyright. Thank you for your answer
I make educational videos all the time for students. But screen recording doesn’t require airplay or screen mirroring. I’m unclear how you’re being restricted.

That’s just it! My controls show thst I am NOT mirroring nor do I have Air Play on.
