Lock iPhone 13 mini (which uses Face ID)

My problem is that pressing the right side button only momentarily locks my iPhone 13 mini. Then it unlocks itself without me doing anything to it. Extremely annoying and inconvenient to wear down my battery and not to be able to lock the phone.

iPhone 14 suddenly won’t lock when I double click the right side lock button - this just started today I’m trying to lock my phone to connect it to my new Mac - which I’m NOT loving atm - to do this, the Mac says “unlock your iPhone” so it’s assuming it’s locked… however, I just picked up my phone to do so & found it wasn’t locked in the first place. I’ve had this phone since last March, this is the first time I’ve had this issue 🤷‍♀️ anyone else have any ideas? yes I do have a code on the phone & I do have my face set up to unlock too. I just checked a few apps which requires my face to login & they work fine, it seems that it won’t lock, the unlocking part is fine.

how to unlock with passcode when part of screen does not work My screen has cracked and part of it is now unresponsive to touch. I cannot unlock the phone as the number 8(part of my passcode) does not work. The others do. Face ID is not possible as it requires the passcode. any ideas on how to unlock?
