Select both discrete documents in Finder and right-click Open With Pages. Select the text to copy in the donor document and then choose Copy. Place your cursor in the recipient document location where you prefer to paste and do so.

If you are simply appending a page to a recipient document, enable thumbnail view on both documents. On the donor document, right-click on thumbnail you want to copy and select Copy. In the recipient document, right-click on the last thumbnail and choose Paste. The page is appended to the current section. There is no other form of thumbnail insertion in a word processing format document.

I have a four-page Pages document open. I also have just opened a blank Pages document. Both in word processing format. I can right-click on the last page thumbnail of the donor document and select Copy. In the blank Pages document, I can right-click on the empty thumbnail and Paste is present. In this scenario, with the blank document as the recipient, the Paste will transfer all four pages (or all of the section's pages) from the donor document, not just the expected last page of its section. The initial blank thumbnail remains blank as the pasted content appends to the current section.

If you want to populate the blank page of that recipient thumbnail, then you need to copy the body text of the specific donor page to the clipboard. Then right-click on the blank thumbnail in the recipient document and select Paste. Only selected donor content is pasted into the page represented by the blank thumbnail.
