How to sync iphone wirelessly to a wired Windows PC with Itunes in 2024. (Solved)

It's January 2024. I created a Vmware VM and connected it to 10Gbit ethernet via my Windows 11 host. I installed Windows 10 22H2. (Most recent as of today). Fresh install, very clean. Then installed iTunes. This was the most recent one available from Apple (Not the MS store version). Connected USB cable to phone and Host, then added iPhone via VMware to my Windows 10 iTunes VM. If you use VMware, this may help you. Otherwise, Vmware was just an easy way to prove that it is Windows 11 and the Store version of itunes that is not working for wireless sync. Once itunes was installed on windows 10, I connected to my NAS based backup folder and hardlinked it in the VM to the %appdata%\Roaming\Apple Computer\MobileSync\Backup folder. This is the link for the Apple version of itunes ver. 12.10.11.2. I backed up, Synced, then disconnected USB and connected to charger only. Iphone stayed connected! And can sync or backup without the cable. You need the most recent itunes to update the iphone of course, but for backups over wifi, you only need to use Windows 10 and you don't need to have the host PC on the wireless network as some Apple support KB articles say. As long as your wireless network that the phone is connecting to is on the same network/subnet as your Wired PC with itunes, you are fine. This did not work with Windows 11 and the store version of itunes. But I didn't test Windows 11 with the Apple version of itunes. That MIGHT work, but I know that the most recent windows 11 and itunes do not work to sync wirelessly at all because that is how I got to this forum. But I fixed my own problem and wanted to help others who remember being able to wirelessly sync to a PC with iTunes and found that it is no longer working. The issue appears to be either Windows 11 or the MS Store version of iTunes. Either way, Good luck and happy wireless syncing!
