Is it safe to update a 2019 MacBook Pro to Sonoma?

I'd seen a ton of complaints a few months back from 2019 MBPro users...wondering if bugs like overheating, battery drain, etc., have been resolved?

MacBook Pro 16″, macOS 13.6

I have had no such issues on my 2019 16" Intel MacBook Pro running all versions of the Sonoma since the initial public release.

Leyroy's advice is excellent. Yes, there seem to have been issues with Sonoma. as happens with many new releases. That is why some people choose to wait for a while before installing a new operating system. In my personal experience, what I do is to initially is to install a new OS on an external SSD, keeping the current OS on its current drive. That way I can use the new OS and see if I like it. If not, I simply revert to the prior OS as the startup OS until I am satisfied that the initial issues have been resolved.
