We have both Samsung and old lightning Iphone cords plus blocks and I am wondering if it’s best for my new Iphone 15 to buy new usb a-c cables in order to use the old blocks, or buy a new block that accommodates the new usb c-c cord? Thanks for advice.

Personally I would buy a new power adapter. The Apple USB power adapters that used to come with iPhones are only 5 watt. A 20 watt USB-C power adapter gives you fast charge capability and ability to use wireless MagSafe chargers if you ever decide that you want that.
They aren't much more costly than a cable. For example, from Apple: Buy 20W USB-C Power Adapter - Apple
and there are good options from Anker and other reputable sellers as well.

Thank you, I do have a newer Apple 15 w. charger, but now the new cord won’t fit, so that was my dilemma.
