I have tried owc thunderbolt hub and cannot connect to mac mini. I can mount an ext ssd hard drive ported directly into the mac but it is not seen if going through hub. going through hub it is not even seen in disk utility. i know there are a lot of issues surrounding usb c, any help would be greatly appreciated.

Contact OWC immediately and get the issue resolved as it may be a faulty hub.
I have one of their Thunderbolt docks and I have a whole variety of drives connected to it that work perfectly.
Does the hub have its own power supply? If not, that is the problem. Many external devices will not function through a non powered hub.
