Why is chrome not available for macOS on the app store?

I have some problems with user sites and the first suggestion for a fix is Chrome. If safari is not supported there ad chrome is., it seems that we should be able to get Chrome.

Google Chrome Cannot Update MacBook Pro M2 Not only will it not update automatically, it tells me relaunch to update and then when that doesn't work it tells me to reinstall Chrome. Chrome on Mac won’t open Hi I downloaded the latest macOS version (Sequoia) yesterday on my M2 MacBook Air. I am signed in to all of my school accounts and the Google suite on chrome but when I tried to open it after the software update, it refuses to open. I tried uninstalling, restarting, and many other ways to try on fix it. One thing that I did notice was that looking in the App Store to try and reinstall chrome, it would not appear there. When looking at the iOS App Store, it says chrome is only an iOS or iPadOS app. What’s the problem and what should I do? Thanks in advance.

You can download Chrome directly from their website: https://www.google.com/chrome/

There are quite a few other apps that are not in the App Store but can be downloaded from the developer website.

Be careful not to download apps from sites other than the developer's site.
