iOS 17.2.1 Charging Issues

I recently updated my iPhone 14 Pro Max to the iOS 17.2.1 software. Since, my iPhone will not charge unless I restart it. I have tried different chargers (Apple official) and wireless charging. Nothing!!! All I could find is someone with an iPhone 11 who said to turn off optimize battery charging. I’m trying this and hope it works. My next step is to an Apple Store. Is anyone else having this issue? It seems to be a big issue. Is Apple planning to fix this?

Went to the Apple Store today and it was no help. She hooked it ip and scanned my phone and said all the hardware is working (I just got this 14 Pro Max from Asurion) for the exact same reason about 5 days ago. Everything has been good til today. Phone started acting up again. I’ve restarted, shut the battery optimization off, clean energy charging off, even hard reset and didn’t reback it up from iCloud just on the off chance it was a setting issue. I’m currently traveling and not sure what else to do. It does still slowly charge on mag charger but not with either cord I have.

I found the solution for us. It hopefully will help others in this community.

We had same problem. After updating 17.2.1 with iphone 11, it would not charge. It died a couple of days ago. We tried everything suggested here and elsewhere to no avail including different cables and adapters - these worked before and still work on our other Apple devices. In the end, I rampaged through our drawer and found our genuine Apple adapter and plugged it in...guess what?! It worked. The phone miraculously started charging. It's alive!

So I contacted support again to update them on the issue that still persists. I was told to wipe my device and start again. I told them I would not be doing this, (I’m not wasting my time) They also offered me an appointment at store to inspect hardware, I told them I’ll wait and see if new update comes along and I can charge by plugging in while I wait, I’m also busy! Also asked if they could confirm that there is an issue with the update. They didn’t confirm this. I have searched for a bit online and read threads that this update was to fix problems with charging and battery issues. Others have lost the ability to connect to their network operator, tho they seem to be possibly in USA or other parts of the world, I’m in UK, Northern Ireland if it has any bearing. Reading between the lines there is a 17.3 update on the horizon and maybe be released in next couple of weeks. I’m hoping this will fix this. I’ve also tweeted Apple and media to see if it catches any traction. Again I’ll keep you posted.

I updated my iPhone 13 (got it brand new barely 3 months ago) two nights ago to iOS 17.2.1. Woke up next morning to see it only at 44% instead of 100..... get a few different cables to make it start charging, but now that’s not working either. Simply not charging. Tried the Optimization trick some ppl suggested; didn’t help. Now I’m using an old iPhone 6 because I don’t want the other phone to totally die... Anybody know if Apple is aware of this issue? This is so disappointing.

Weird thing is, i have an old iphone 7, an old ipad pro 2gen, my son has an iphone 11.

All have different ios versions, e.g. the 7 cant update over 15 something. BUT all 3 started having major charging problems at the same time, about start of 2024. Tried Multiple cables, chargers, etc, some "real" rotten apple ones, others not, all ones that used to work but mysteriously stopped working simultaneously.

Charging has suddenly become a major issue. Simply not good enough, when base features stop working like that Like it wouldnt be enough w the rip-off unchangeable batteries... Next talking on the phone will probably fall off - but no worries, there will be many new features in applepay.
