I use an old iMac from 2014. I don't know what system I use. I got a new Magic Keyboard, I logged out the old keyboard and turned the Imac off, now I can't type my password to enter my Imac. The keyboards don't work and I can't click ok anything on the screen either. Only the mouse works. How do I type my password without keyboards?

Connect the new keyboard to the Mac with the charging cable that came with it. It will now behave as a wired USB keyboard.

The others are, at least officially, incompatible.

MacTracker reports that there is an older version of the plain Magic Keyboard (no numeric keypad, no Touch ID) which is compatible with Macs running OS X v10.11 (El Capitan) or later. Apple sold it between October 2015 and May 2021. It has model number A1644, as opposed to the current one ("Magic Keyboard with Lock Key"), which has model number A2450.

No. Late 2012 iMacs can't run anything higher than Catalina. You can't upgrade them far enough to make the "plain" Magic Keyboard (model A2450) work.

Your choices would seem to be:

  • To get the Magic Keyboard that has a Numeric Keypad, but NOT Touch ID
  • To try to find an used, older Magic Keyboard (model A1644) that's in good condition.
  • To go back to the keyboard that you were using before, or
  • To go with a non-Apple keyboard
