Computer running very slow

slow to boot up,takes along time to open each task.Splning wheel keep on turning.

iMac 21.5″, macOS 14.2

Slow boot up. 21.5" iMac. Do you have a 2019 or older model with the base 1TB HDD? Those are too slow to run modern MacOS for several years now. You need to upgrade to an SSD.


Luckily external USB-C SSDs work. If you have a 2015 or older iMac look for one that comes with a USB-A cable, otherwise any will work. Once you have one see: Use an external SSD as your startup disk … - Apple Community
