I will add my support for getting an AirPrint capable printer.

There are too many posts in these forums where the vendor has stopped updating the drivers for a printer, then the user upgrades to a new version of macOS, and the printer does not work.

AirPrint capable printers do not use the vendor provided drivers, as they use the macOS included AirPrint support. As long as you can get printer supplies, you can continue to use an AirPrint capable printer for years after the vendor has abandoned it.

My last printer had AirPrint support and was totally functioning for the 12 years it was in service (printing, scanning, copying and FAX). Its replacement (A Brother multi-function printer) also has AirPrint support and it was very easy to configure on my Mac, iPhone, iPad and iPod Touch devices in the home.
