How can I access iCloud from a non-Windows PC?

I am using Linux and I would like to upload all of my photos to iCloud so that I can see them on my iPhone.

I thought that iCloud was WebDAV compatible, but I cannot seem to find any information on that or what the endpoints are. I tried to mount icloud.me but it does not work.

While not as elegant as I hoped, I did find a somewhat workable solution that I would like to share here.

Basically I use iTunes to sync my old photos to the iPhone, and they all show up in the Photos app. The only downside is that I cannot delete any of these synced photos, so if I want to remove something I need to do it on the PC and then sync the photos again with iTunes.

Also I could not get iTunes to work directly on Linux (also not with Wine), so I had to use a Windows VM with USB pass through. Maybe in the future I can get this working without a VM so the process will be a little bit less cumbersome.

Hope this helps someone in the future.

Alas, I fear Apple's support for Linux is non-existent (and even for Windows it is limited, though in this case they do have photo support Set up and use iCloud Photos on your Windows PC - Apple Support.) You may have to investigate workarounds such as those you suggest. If you are exploring those possibilities you can check this link Transfer a copy of your iCloud Photos collection to another service - Apple Support

Thank you for the suggestion. I did not know about this, and it looks pretty useful.

However it seems that uploads are limited to only files. When I try to upload the whole folder it says that only JPEG is supported. Also it would probably take a long time (these are about 18,000 files in 200 folders).

Perhaps I could use USB to transfer everything to the iPhone's internal storage, and then somehow sync it to iCloud from there (although at that point I might just skip the iCloud part altogether).
