Pages will not update due to wrong Apple ID

I purchased a refurbished Mac about a year or so ago. Evidently since someone else used an Apple ID on here besides mine, it will not update the Pages app. Which causes concerns now about other apps.

How do I fix this???

iMac 27″, macOS 14.2

The proper approach to refurbish is to purchase it from Apple refurbished who will have wiped the Mac and reinstalled the operating system so you can initiate a setup procedure and associate your Apple ID with everything on the Mac.

It sounds to me that you received an improperly "refurbished" Mac with another user's Apple ID associated with the operating system and any Mac App Store installed applications. This will haunt you until you wipe the Mac and reinstall Sonoma with migration from the Time Machine backup that preceded the iMac purchase.
