I left a library book on my new MacBook Air overnight and it looks like there is an outline of the book in the finish. On closer examination it looks like the finish is faded. The library book has the standard library clear jacket protector. Has anyone else had a similar issue?

I've never seen this before. It sure looks like the Mac was warm when the book was placed on top of it...or the book was warm.
I suspect that if you take a clean microfiber towel, dampen it (making sure you wring it out thoroughly) and briskly clean off the case, that stain may well come off. Don't try any household cleaners on it, as you run the risk of damaging the finish.
