IP video / audio functionality with Apple TV 4K 2nd gen Facetime
To the best of my knowledge, the only way to get a video feed for facetime on the Apple TV 4K 2nd gen is to either use the continuity camera feature or use HomeKit with a homekit capable security camera.
An ideal solution would be to have a camera and audio input on the AppleTV for the purpose giving us access to video devices we already may have with standard video inputs. But, there is another option. I own 2 cameras which are primarily a video over IP device. These also supply audio on this feed. It would be a easy solution for those of us who have the ability to set up an IP camera to be able to add the address of the video feed for the purposes of using an IP cameras mounted near the TV for a better video experience and consistent video call experiences for those we talk to. It would also (for those cameras with an auxiliary audio input) give users the ability to utilize a better microphone to have better audio quality during a call. It seems like this might be an easy feature to implement as the HomeKit and continuity camera features probably also use a similar method to transmit a video and audio feed to the AppleTV. It would just need to be added as an option to enter a user specified IP address to look for a video and audio feed.
If this feature is available and I have overlooked it, please let me know. Otherwise, this would be a great improvement to AppleTV's facetime capability.
