iPhone cellular data connection freezing silently

Recently, I have found the cellular data connection on my iPhone (15 Pro, latest iOS) totally frozen beyond usability, despite indicating either LTE or 5G. The cellular data was usable again only after resetting the connection to the cellular network by switching the phone into airplane mode for a few moments (or using the Disable Mobile Data function in Control Center).

This is nuisance as an isolated or sporadic issue, but today it took on spectacular proportions, when for the first time since the feature was launched, I desperately needed Find My but found it unusable—the wayward iPhone reported a good cellular data connection before it went missing and after it was found, but did not, in fact, have data connectivity.

Any theories on what is happening and / or how to avoid this?
