I'm looking for a very simple record keeping program. I don't need the latest Excel or numbers app. use one that will function on this older MAC.

If you want to use a sort-of native app rather than loading another spreadsheet program, you could use iCloud Numbers.
Navigate to iCloud.com in Safari, and log in if necessary.
In the lower left corner of the opening window you will see all the built-in iCloud apps. Pick Numbers.

is there a excel type app that will work with my Catalina OS 10.15? The computer says its completely updated but will not accept a "numbers" or "excel" APP.
