A mid 2015 iMac can be upgraded to macOS Monterey. See the following from Identify your iMac model - Apple Support

iMac (Retina 5K, 27-inch, Late 2015)

Model Identifier: iMac17,1

Part Numbers: MK462xx/A, MK472xx/A, MK482xx/A

Newest compatible operating system: macOS Monterey

To upgrade, see instructions in How to download and install macOS - Apple Support

If I remember correctly, Monterey is the oldest version compatible with Microsoft Office.

Also, be aware that if you upgrade to Catalina 10.15 or later you will also need to update any non-Apple 32-bit apps. See: https://www.stclairsoft.com/Go64/
