CANT RECONNECT MULTICAM CLIPS TO THE ORIGINAL MEDIAON FCP

Hi everybody. I'm using the Multicam feature for all my interviews on a documentary project. Before creating the Multicam clips of the two angles I have for all my interviews I transcoded everything into proxies. Now, when I want to reconnect my timeline to the original media, all connects well but the Multicam clips. The appear as offline media. when I try to reconnect manually, looking for the the clips inside the Multicam clip, y does not work. Any advise or fix for this issue?

In the browser, can you see the original clips you imported that you made into proxies for the multicams?

Have you tried resetting FCP prefs? Hold Option and Command while launching FCP and choose Delete Preferences. It will open the default Untitled library. Re-open the library you were working on, set the Preferences back to the way you like them (disable background rendering, reset Import to Leave Files in Place, etc.) and see if the issue has been resolved.

How do you replace the camera proxies in the Multicam container with the original clips?

This what I did from the beginning:

  1. Imported the original footage into FCP and asked FCP to create proxies of everything. All proxies where put inside a folder that says Final Cut Proxie Media. All the original media remained where it's always been.
  2. I took all the interviews, with their two angles and created the Multicam clips. It synced perfectly.
  3. Started editing.
  4. Now that the edit is finished, I hit view Botton on the viewer, and clip original media. Everything switches from FCP proxy to original media, except the multi cam clips.

Sorry. I didn't use camera proxies. I used the FCP proxies created by FCP during importing of the original footage.

The Multicam clips were created with the FCP proxies.

I'm using a Mac book pro, M1 , 32Gb RAM, running on OS Sonoma 14.1.2. FCP version is 10.7

The media was shot with Sony Alpha cameras. The original media is Log 3, 4k, H264 on a Mp4 container.

The original media is in the same hard drive from where it was originally imported to FCP.

“So they are not in the browser.”

If you imported them the original clips are in the browser. The media is in the original location but the FCP clips are in the browser. As well as the proxies. Nothing is physically in the browser. Everything is just pointers to media either in the original location or in a proxy folder or in the library.

As Terry said select the clips and try to relink them.
