How do I close my activity rings using only my iPhone?

Hi 👋 I’ve just sent my Apple Watch Series 6 in for repair (dreaded ‘calls emergency services when swimming’ glitch; now blank screen). I would like to continue to close fitness rings using my iPhone 13promax. I am able to use Fitness+ workouts but they don’t shift any rings. I have reordered my data sources list in the health app to put phone as top source instead of watch, but it does not show phone as a data source option in ‘activity’. It does however state the phone should shift the ‘move’ ring I notice.

Apple support today tells me I can only close rings using my Watch, but…

I have added a workout manually in Health and it does show up in the Fitness app, but does not close the rings. However, walking with the phone in my pocket does contribute to the move ring. How do you get the manual recordings to contribute to the rings?

Open the Health app and check your Data source is correctly configured for the various activities.

Thanks SravanKrA - I have done this for each individual activity in Health app but doesn’t list my phone as a data source option in ‘Activity’ in Health, which is the section with the rings.

I can try to add manually but seems silly to me if the exercise I did was actually in Apple Fitness+ 🤷
