Device Unknown

Trying to get an old iPhone working again(iPhone X) Phone is completely fresh restart from when I received it. After language selected, then Wi-Fi selected it takes a moment for the phone to attempt to activate, then proceeds to a screen that says at the top device unknown. I can get it to charge on a computer, but I cannot get it to see on a Mac or computer. So making attempts to update it or reset it via recovery mode doesn’t work. Also, I’ve made attempts to set up as a new phone while connecting it to another iPhone that also does not work. It leads me to the same screen that says device unknown.
