Search doesn't work in iPhone photos app

Hello, I have renamed my photo from IMG_4513 into "20240119_084841 #FifthSnow2023 Heavy snowfall": but when I search "#FifthSnow2023", it doesn't find anything although the images are on my iPhone Photos app and on my iCloud. So what's the problem? I don't seem to understand that search function when it doesn't even work:(

Searching by filename doesn't work. I think the general feeling must be that people don't typically remember the filename, so that's not often helpful. If you put #FifthSnow2023 into the caption then the search would show your picture.

It is an unfortunate restriction that we cannot search for filenames in Photos iOS. The reason may be, that Photos is renaming all files internally with new, unique filenames when storing them in Photos and iCloud.

I can also only find my files by the filename on my iPhone, when I added the filename to the title (on my Mac) and the title has been synced to the iPhone with iCloud, like Richard recommended for the captions.

But just a caution - I would not use special characters like the hash # in a filename. That can cause problems when you are using he image files on a device with Unix filesystem, like macOs. Special characters are treated specially by the Unix shells and can cause problems in shell scripts and path names.
