WhatsApp data transfer on new iPhone taking long time

Started data transfer from iCloud to new iPhone 18 hours ago. Started with transfer between old and new iphone but it was going to take 3 hours. So opted to use data transfer from iCloud instead as new phone can be used after 15 minutes while data transfer continued in the background. In fact, it took a few hours before I could use the new phone. Problem though is after 18 hours the data transfer has not completed. Many apps are in waiting mode. Whatsapp is showing Loading and does not seem to progress. There is no option to cancel, only to Pause. What do I do? I can't stay home waiting for this to finish, need to go out and about my day.
