Taking Photos on iPhone 15 Pro

First time owner of an iPhone.

Tried taking Photos, discovered I wasn’t always tapping button, but pressing it, resulting in a 1 sec video.

Anyway to stop this occurring in future or will I need to just practice this?

Have a few of these 1 sec videos, which should have just been photos, how can I just capture one shots from these Videos, to add to my Photos? i.e. don’t want 1 sec Video just a single Photo.

What is the purpose of having a Photo setting, that takes Video, when a Video option is available if required?

iPhone 15 Pro, iOS 17

Hi brainnearlydead,

I understand that you're having an issue with capturing photos on your iPhone.

In order to take a photo on an iPhone you just need to quickly tap on the shutter button in your iPhone's camera app: Take great photos and videos – Apple Support Holding it will begin recording a video, this feature is called QuickTake. There's no way to disable this feature unfortunately, so you may need to practice this.

You can capture a photo from these short videos by playing it back and taking a screenshot: Take a screenshot on iPhone – Apple Support Next, find the screen shot and crop out the black borders on the screen: Take and edit photos with your iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch - Apple Support.

The purpose of this feature is to allow users to quickly begin a video recording when something suddenly happens, instead of needing to scroll over to the dedicated video tab in the Camera app:Record videos with your iPhone camera – Apple Support

Cheers!
