How do I disable 1-second video recording for photos on iPhone X with iOS 18?

I have followed the several steps suggested on Google, to no avail. I'm sorry, but there have been so many suggestions I read and tried, in my old age I cannot remember them except the last: "prioritize faster shooting." So, every attempt at a simple photo becomes a 1-second video. Can I correct that?

When the Camera opens, it should be in the Mode "Photos". if not, swipe left or right on the camera screen to switch to the Photos mode. iPhone camera basics - Apple Support (CA)

Avoid gestures, that will change the mode to "Video". While a in Photos Mode do not hold the Shutter button, just tab it quickly to take the photo. If you press and hold the shutter butter, the mode will change to "video", see: Record videos with your iPhone camera - Apple Support (CA)
