What does the Lock Camera setting do when recording a video?

There is a setting called Lock Camera in Settings -> Camera -> Record Video that does not automatically switch between cameras while recording video. But I can't switch cameras (from rear to front-facing camera) while I record a video, even if I have the Lock Camera setting off. I can only switch cameras prior to recording a video. So what does this setting do exactly? I have an iPhone 13 Pro with iOS 17.4.1

This is directly from Apple:

On iPhone 13 models, iPhone 14 models, and iPhone 15 models, the Lock Camera setting prevents automatic switching between cameras while recording video. Lock Camera is off by default.

To turn on Lock Camera, go to Settings  > Camera > Record Video, then turn on Lock Camera.

And yes, regardless, when recording a video, you don't have the ability to switch from rear facing camera to front facing while the recording is being made.
