numeral 1 stuck on in messenger

There is a red in color numeral "1" constantly on my iphone SE screen. I do not have any messages that have not been open. I discovered that I somehow belong to a community group chat that I didn't want to belong to. I've followed all the instructions on how to remove myself from the group but the "1" still remains on the screen. How do I reset messenger to get rid of the "1"?

Unable to text in group chat I have a group chat with other iphone users that all of a sudden I cannot respond to. The text box to reply is missing. I cannot leave the conversation, or hide alerts, etc. All of those options are greyed out. I have already tried closing the messaging app, updating my iOS, myself starting a new thread with the same friends, or even had my friends start a new group and each time I am temporarily able to respond to the group chat, but eventually, I am unable to, and the textbox to reply disappears. I don’t have any issues with any other group chats, just this one in particular and I don’t know why.

IMessage Text Box Disappears in 1 of my group chats I am only having this issue with one of my group chats. It has been going on for a few weeks now. Randomly I lose my text box and am not able to respond in the group but I can see all the new messages come in. We have tried removing and re-adding me into the group, i keep my phone updated, phone turned on and off, all of that. I have noticed I am able to reply in the group on my iPad but have the same issue on my Macbook. It was suggested to me to do a factory reset. Is that my only option?

How to remove a disconnected phone from an iMessage group chat? One person in our group chat shut off their phone yesterday and now all of our messages are showing up as sms messages which won’t allow us to delete them from the group. When I looked it up it says everyone has to be iMessage in order to remove someone. What can we do now that the line is disconnected? We had our chat for years and don’t want to have to start a new one. Thank you!! [Re-Titled by Moderator]

Try restarting your iPhone and if it still remains and this is the Facebook Messenger app, then you will need to contact them for Support options. They may have you subscribed to another group that you are not aware of or it may be a problem with your account.
