How to remove a disconnected phone from an iMessage group chat?

One person in our group chat shut off their phone yesterday and now all of our messages are showing up as sms messages which won’t allow us to delete them from the group. When I looked it up it says everyone has to be iMessage in order to remove someone. What can we do now that the line is disconnected? We had our chat for years and don’t want to have to start a new one. Thank you!!

Hello!

If the group is an iMessage group, whoever made the group can remove him.

If the text messages are green, there’s nothing you can do other than deleting the old group, and creating a new one, excluding the person from it.
